Fitness Paddle
The fitness paddle tour on Big River will consist of three components: a dynamic warm-up and brief instruction on the dock, 1 ½ hour paddle that will incorporate sprints, cool downs and aerobic rhythms as well as isometric exercises for the lower body, and lastly, a stretch session.
The dynamic warm-up, meaning we are moving, gets our bodies ready for the movements we will incorporate in paddling. It warms the body, wakes up the muscles, lubricates the joints and raises the heart rate.
Paddling sprints will put us in an anaerobic state as we push ourselves and our muscles to perform at maximum effort as a team. This increases overall endurance and aerobic capacity. During the aerobic paddling we will be able to enjoy and share what we see of the wildlife and beauty of Big River. Being a docent for Big River I will be happy to share some historical facts and stories about the river and the area.
The third component takes place in the lovely Yoga Garden at Stanford Inn where we will stretch and relax the entire body.
This full body work-out in a gorgeous, pristine setting will leave you exhilarated, maybe a bit tired and, if you are not used to paddling movement, perhaps a little sore the next day or two. So come for the unique exercise experience, the freshest air imaginable and the stunning views. Meet you on the dock!
